My husband took 7 kids for a day on the Columbia river today, a great way to spend the day if you're a kid I'm sure. But he forgot his wallet, and if I know my husband at all, I know he was planning a food stop on the way home from the river. I realized he forgot the wallet about 5 minutes after he left.
Good news though, the darling hubby drives like a grampa snail, and I drive more like... a soccer mom on steroids. I figured catching up with him would be no trouble at all. So my sister and I jump in the car, and the race is on! She's the lookout, I'm the driver. We race down one street about five miles. Turn on to Marine Drive, travel another five miles or so, and... no sign of him!
Finally we arrive at the river, and... he's not there! We beat him? How did we pass him?! It turns out he goes in this odd bit of a circle making his way there. We live on 122nd, the river we go to is at about 47th, and somehow my husband got stuck in traffic on... 33rd.
At any rate, he had planned to stop and get cash, but since he didn't have his wallet, he ended up showing up with no cash. There's a vender there with snow cones and other neat river day necessities, so we went to the little bar next door to garner him some money.
The restaurant is called the Sextant, strange name I know, and I don't have any idea how the place got the name, however, it'd been a few years since I'd been inside and the restaurant had gotten quite the make-over!
In fact, after dropping my husband off his cash, my sister and I decided to head back over for lunch! While we were waiting for our food, my sister put 5 bucks in the video poker machine, which worked out quite well, she cashed out at almost $200!
We ate a beautiful lunch outside on the patio, enjoying the sunshine, and each others company, we don't get to do that as often as we used to, now that we're all 'grown up'.
